The Self Storage Risk Management Association (SSRMA) was founded in 2011 by storage industry professionals to educate owners, managers, and users of self storage. It exists to help them become aware of and manage the risks inherent in the self storage industry. Membership in the SSRMA is required to have access to the Storsmart insurance program.

The Storsmart insurance program is available at participating self storage facilities that are members of the Self Storage Risk Management Association.
